Cast & Cruise Sundowner

Fishing, Seafood, Sunset, Drinks

As the sun slowly sets, soak up the magic of Rottnest Island’s golden glow on board our relaxed 2-hour Cast & Cruise Sundowner.

Departing from Thomson Bay, then dropping anchor in a tranquil bay, this is a classic West Australian boating experience on our premium 69-ft boat, The Crusader III.

Sip, socialise and take in breathtaking views of the Island’s coastline while you relax. You’ll be served seafood canapes along the way and can even throw in a line to fish!

This sundowner is the perfect way to end your day at Rottnest.

See in the night

Enjoy complimentary beverages, including still and sparkling premium wines from Howard Park, quality bottled beers and soft drinks. Dine on ocean-inspired canapes created by a private chef, featuring a fusion of local ingredients with fresh West Australian seafoods.

From this prime vantage point, relax to admire the Island’s stunning scenery, such as Bathhurst Lighthouse and Pinky’s Beach.

While at anchor in one of the Island’s calm bays, you may like to cast a line to try your hand at catching some of WA’s best-known nearshore fish, such as Herring and Whiting. Equipment, bait and expert guidance is provided. Our chef will happily cook your catch to enjoy on board, or you can take it away with you.

Finish with a picture-perfect view of sunset skies over Rottnest’s sparkling ocean. Pure magic!

We want all guests to love our cruise experience. So, of course, we can accommodate some food intolerances or specific dietary needs as far as reasonably practical, but please inform us with at least 24 hours’ notice (or preferably when making your booking). Please contact us to discuss. We can cater for non-seafood eaters, vegans and gluten intolerances, with advance notice. You are also welcome to bring your own food items on board.

Our boat has very limited storage space, so notification of food intolerances on the day is unlikely to be able to be accommodated, as logistics are planned in advance.

Rottnest’s waters are very healthy and productive for fishing, but there is no guarantee you will catch fish. We will, of course, help you as much as possible. During the West Coast demersal finfish closed season (15 October to 15 December 2019), under rules of the Department of Fisheries, our fishing tours will be restricted to allowable catch species only, with no demersal finfish to be caught and retained. We also offer deep-sea fishing trips for demersal fish (such as Dhufish) within season, however this requires a tailored itinerary. Please contact us to enquire.

  • 5 star ratingtop notch Everyones very very friendly. And a nice bottomless wines.:) i think you should try it as anniversary/birthday treat.

  • 5 star ratingWonderful tour Just a great day out, on the day of the channel swim. Cold beer on arrival, and canapes. Crew couldn't have been more helpful. Caught a heap of lobsters (crays) and had to throw some back. Great food. Met some great people too.

  • 5 star ratingRather expensive but worth seeing WE visited Rottnest Island in February 2020. The beaches were wonderful. We got a lot of pleasure. On the other hand the ticket to get the Island was rathe expensive - 70 AUD

  • 5 star ratingAmazing day out on the water From start to finish this day out was a fantastic experience. I was with two people who had never been to Rottnest, and the team on the boat ensured they saw it at its best.

Initially going out to check the Crayfish pots, the team make you feel at ease going out to deeper water and share their knowledge on the local fishing, and wildlife you may see in an extremely friendly manner; including explaining conservation laws.

Lunch was a bountiful feast while in one of the local bays which is prepared on-board while you wait. This included fresh fish and crayfish straight from the bbq, and local beverages. Swimming optional in the clear blue water.

We had a group of 6 on the boat which was a great number, and the size of the boat happily takes slightly larger groups. We could not fault any part of the day, and will be looking at doing it again.

  • 4 star ratingWonderful experience A very comfortable boat, interesting and fun crew topped off with a fabulous lunch including many gluten free options. Highly recommend this special trip.

  • 5 star ratingExcellent Day Out We had a visitor from overseas and he had the best day - quokka selfie, coffee at the bakery and then then the seafood experience - he loved it. Food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
